Agriculture and rural development have always been significant issues in Turkey. However, these issues have drawn much more attention since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, whereby it is once again understood that agricultural self-sufficiency and sustainability of food provision to citizens are crucial. In this policy note, Sıla Sezge Çınar delves at the agricultural problems that Turkey faces and proposes a roadmap of feasible policies around the concept of rural development.
